We’re on a road trip across the United States to tell people about Complete + Happy Home, and while we’re at it, we’re saving the country, one room at a time! Our last makeover was in Los Angeles—where we meet Corinna and Eugenia, a couple of artists who could use our help blending their creative styles into one playful living room.

Corinna, a former art director for GOOD Magazine turned alternative medicine student, and Eugenia, an artist and painting instructor for adults with developmental disabilities, have called this one bedroom home for the past two years.

“Eugenia is eclectic by nature, and I am a pretty determined minimalist, which leaves us all over the map in our living room. We both agree that we love light wood, lots of plants, open space, and that’s about it,” says Corinna.

“We tend to collect old props from previous video and photo shoots (piñatas, puppets, paintings, astronaut helmets). Eugenia and I love showcasing artwork from her clients and from our friends,” she says. “Our living room could definitely use some Apartment Therapy love!!”

With the help of Maxwell, the original Apartment Therapist and Christiane Lemieux, founder of DwellStudio and creative director for Wayfair, Corinna and Eugenia now have a playful space that incorporates their love of art.

Corinna started a Pinterest board of things she liked from Wayfair.com, and from there, we helped narrow down what to bring in. The main objectives were to tie her current pieces together, bring in some texture and additional seating, and then arrange their art and accessories so that they shine in the room.

The seating area needed some definition, so in came a new rug, and we layered that with a hand-knotted rug they already owned to expand the coverage. Walter the pup approves:

The couple’s red chair was a little too large for the space, so it moved to the bedroom and in came a smaller gray chair and a leather and metal accent chair, with a pouf that can also act as seating or a surface.
