This kitchen was a total disaster when owner Dorie bought her 1916 bungalow in Mesa, Arizona. The builder-grade cabinets and oven were fixed awkwardly in the center of the room while a huge custom wine rack took up the entire back wall — perhaps because it required serious wine goggles to look at that room without cringing? Dorie’s new kitchen is gorgeous even when you’re stone-cold sober.

Because she couldn’t choose between green and white for cabinetry, she went with both, and I love how clean and fresh it looks, especially with the butcher-block island and the antique candy maker’s cabinet with its fabulous patina. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the curtains that graze the countertop, but other than that, this could be my dream kitchen.

Click through to Hooked on Houses to see Dorie’s entire remodel, which included a painstaking restoration of the bungalow’s exterior to its original state, replete with wraparound porch. There’s also a lovely bathroom remodel and a very cute craft room.

Great work Dorie!
