From Nila: As newly graduated Florida transplants to the Pacific Northwest, our money didn’t stretch as far as we had hoped. We purchased a small home, which we’ve named Corner Cottage, because it is a corner house in a fun part of the city with many shops, restaurants and farmers market all within walking distance.

I have visited many places around the world and the gray skies, lack of sunlight and cooler climate in Washington reminded me of the UK. I decided to use florals and pastels to create a cottage feel in our new 1940s home. My husband Henryk and I did all the the work ourselves using recycled or as many Made in America products that we could find, including building all our cabinetry by hand.

The process took roughly five months to complete since we were both working and the cost came in under $5k.

Thank you, Nila!
