Before & After: A High & Low Master Bedroom
We’ve seen smart & beautiful design from Kevin before, and he’s keeping it up with this gorgeous master bedroom makeover.
From Kevin: After decorating most of my father’s house in one fell swoop, the master bedroom was left unfinished and needed some attention. As you can see in the before picture, there were two beautiful red leather chairs and a large oriental rug (not pictured: the IKEA bed), but I wanted to start with a clean slate and continue the cooler palette from the rest of the house. I used charcoal walls in the entry and living room, but this bedroom has only one window, so I brightened the room with a coat of fresh white on the walls and brought in some moody drama with high-gloss blue on the ceiling. It actually ended up expanding the room, because the reflective finish and dark color gave an expansive illusion. For the furniture and decor, I mixed warm neutrals and shades of blue with transitional and mid-century styles for a sophisticated mix. I also brought in high-and-low elements, from the Crystorama chandelier to the rattan bench (an incredible find from Target!). My dad loves his new room and it was so fun to finish off the house with this room.
