Miranda found this shapely chair on the side of the road — and it looked like it. But, this piece had a great form, and with Miranda’s lovely DIY changes, is now on the road to being an awesome addition to a home!

From Miranda:

I am always so jealous when I hear about people finding gems on the side of the road. Finally the selvage gods smiled upon me and one of my neighbors put this baby on their curb! My dog darted out into traffic while I was wrestling it into my hatchback, but we both survived, and now the chair will also live a long happy life! The rattan was destroyed, the seat was harder than I can possibly explain, and the finish was ruined. I removed the rattan, sanded down the frame, restained and sealed it, made a new seat, and wove a macrame style back from black and white parachute cord. I also polished the brass feet with some baking soda, but they kept some of their patina. It was a doozy but I think the result was worth it! Not bad for my first free find.
