Before & After: An Outdated ’80s Chandelier Turns into a Trendy, Geometric Lamp
Have you ever seen those glass and brass, ’80s style light fixtures that often hang in foyers and dining rooms? Not terrible, but slightly outdated. The good news is that you might already have one or you could find a used one for cheap. The even better news is you could turn it into a stylish, geometric lamp that matches pricier contemporary lamps.

I originally stripped and turned this chandelier into a terrarium (seen here) but the curse of my black-thumb eventually sent me back to square one. Then I saw an adorable geometric lamp on Land of Nod and a light bulb went on (oh yes, pun intended).
I started by spray painting the gutted glass base gold in a makeshift spray tent/ bin. Painting the chandelier glass really brought out beveled angles and played up the geometric design. Next, I went to Home Depot to buy the lamp kit parts I needed to transform it into a table lamp.
Personally, this project was a win for me — mostly because I got the look for a LOT less than the inspiration’s sticker price!
