Spoiler alert: they remove the carpet. And, yes, it goes a long way in brightening and modernizing the room, but Christina and her boyfriend don’t stop there. From paint, to furniture, to light fixtures, this is a pretty impressive overhaul.

From Christina: My boyfriend and I bought a one bed, one bath condo in San Jose, California about a year ago and immediately saw so much potential for it once we moved in. The place is in a very eclectic up and coming neighborhood, surrounded by disruptive tech companies and we really wanted to reflect that in our new place. We moved in and realized we had a lot of work to do! The carpet was old, the paint colors were outdated and ugly, and there was a considerable amount of charm missing. We tackled every inch of the place including, the kitchen, the bedroom, the foyer and staircase, the living room, the patio, and the bathroom.

To achieve our sleek, modern glam look for our condo we took on a lot of projects in every room. First, we painted the entire place creme fraiche, except the bathroom which was Pebble Gray. Then, we took all the carpet out and replaced with faux hardwood floors and put in new carpet in the bedroom. Next, we changed every single light fixture to new, industrial looking ones. We made an empty space at the bottom of the staircase into a home bar complete with cocktails and shakers! We also put backsplash in the kitchen and completely gutted the bathroom, putting in new tile floors, new tile shower surround, and re-painting the vanity to give it a fresh updated look. We bought all new furniture, mostly from CB2, West Elm, and World Market to create our modern industrial/ glam look.

We really poured our heart and soul into this place and we are just so happy it turned out they way we had envisioned it – glam, industrial, and very modern. We like to think we saved this place!

Thank you, Christina!
