Carly had held on to her grandmother’s chair, debating whether to fix it up or toss it. Then, after a year of searching for fabric, she found the perfect remnant:

From Carly:

My grandma’s old chair had been sitting in my house after being moved from apartment to apartment just begging to either be tossed or loved. After decorating most of the rest of our first floor, I finally found an upholsterer that I wanted to use to breathe some life back into the chair. Then I hemmed and hawed and forgot about fabric for a full year. Until one day recently I was helping a client/friend look for fabric to reupholster her vintage chairs and I spotted this glorious remnant of rainbow houndstooth plaid fabric. Was it too crazy, I worried?

With the encouragement of my shopping companion, a frantic call to the upholsterer, and the fact that it was JUST over the yardage I needed, I was ready to commit. Plus it was ridiculously affordable because it was a remnant. Bonus. Two weeks later and this gem had been reglued, new foam added, legs touched up, and returned to its tufted glory with a houndstooth kick in the pants. The chair makes me so giddy every time I walk in the room and I just know grandma is smiling down when we sit in it.
