Jill was looking for a budget-friendly option to add a modern industrial look to her home’s new addition. Enter the IKEA STUVA, a smart DIY tabletop, and just check out the result:

We just finished adding a little over 300 sq. ft. to our small house, and have now begun the process of furnishing the space. I loved the idea of a wall to wall desk for the office, but I couldn’t find a modern/industrial looking desk that fit both my budget and needs.
I’ve always loved the look of the STUVA system at Ikea, and I thought it might be perfect for the base of my desk. The tricky part though was finding a desktop that would sit nicely atop the STUVA pieces! That’s when I got creative.
I bought an 8-foot piece of plywood and covered it with concrete, giving it the appearance of a concrete tabletop. I placed it atop the STUVA pieces, and tada! finished desk! I’m super excited about how easy the whole process was and how it turned out.
