Danielle added style and interest to her living room with a few simple and small touches: replacing the curtains, adding some light fixtures, and slapping on a new coat of paint. And then she made a big change, adding color and interest to the space in a major way.

From Danielle: When we first moved into our family home, the living room was covered in brown and beige from floor to ceiling. My style is Scandinavian meets Boho, I love light spaces with colorful surprises and minimalist mixed with eclectic, which makes our home very unique.

The first thing we did was remove the carpet and replace it with light wood flooring, and that alone made the space feel much bigger. Then we had a fireplace wall and surround built in and tackled the walls. We chose white for the background with a half blush wall on one side and teal for the fire surround. We removed the brown curtains and replaced them with bright white blinds and voile curtains, giving us perfect control of light and privacy. The gold pendants add interest and the light rugs keep the focus on the fire surround – I don’t think we will ever get tired of that teal!
