Any way you slice it, committing to a design upgrade can be hard and more than a little bit scary. After living a few years with a kitchen she did not particularly love, Havalah finally decided to pull the trigger on a kitchen makeover. After committing to doing the whole upgrade on their own, she had to settle on a look and feel for the space as well as the best way to accomplish it. The final result is clean and sophisticated while remaining kid friendly and welcoming.

From Havalah: After two years of living in our house, we decided it was finally time to update our cabinets. It took us probably six months just to research how to do it and figure out what we wanted to do. We eventually decided to do it ourselves and to go with the spray gun method. We figured out that it would be more cost effective to just buy our own spray gun instead of renting one. We were really happy with the spray gun we ended up with.

I’ve always wanted all white cabinets, but with little kids, I was nervous about committing to that. So we decided to compromise and go with a two toned cabinet effect. For the bottom cabinets we decided to go with a dark blue and went with white for the top. The white really brightened up the kitchen and the dark blue added a sophisticated contrast.

My favorite part though is the hexagon backsplash that we picked. It adds such a fun pop of texture while still keeping it simple.

Thank you, Havalah!
