September is Transformation Month at Apartment Therapy! That means every day, we’re sharing a new before & after to show the power of transformations at home. Head over here to see them all!

When Lucy Hamilton and her husband bought their UK home four years ago, their sitting room and its Victorian fireplace were every shade of neutral.

Fast forward to now: The room is colorful, daring, and so much fun. And that Victorian fireplace? It’s electric blue.

Lucy and her husband spent a month transforming the room, working on it in the evenings. They sanded the wood floor and painted it white and wallpapered the window wall in a bold floral pattern. Later, Lucy took to the fireplace, painting the room’s centerpiece the brightest of blues and applying tile stickers (yes, those are stickers!) on top of the older tiles. The entire room’s renovation cost about 2,000 pounds.

Lucy is all about the colorful additions, and thinks you should be, too. “Let your house be you and not like every other house,” she writes. “Be different!”

Thank you for sharing, Lucy!
