Before & After: A London Bedroom Gets a Dark Dramatic Floral Makeover
Name: Nadia
Location: London, United Kingdom
A few weeks ago I decided to participate in a six week makeover challenge. I chose to do my bedroom and closet, but the funny thing is that I had no idea what I would do when I started. No real plan, I was just obsessed with a gorgeous dark floral wallpaper so I wanted create something dark and moody. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to buy that beautiful and pricey wallpaper. Plus, being in a rental I thought that it would be a shame to put up an expensive wallpaper and then take it off when I leave.
It was a makeover on a budget so I was trying to find second hand items, vintage pieces and a lot of DIY to spend as little as possible. So I made a mood board inspired by that dark wallpaper and started painting all the walls black. But I was literally obsessing over that wallpaper! Half way through, I finally couldn’t resist and decided to splurge all my budget on that amazingly beautiful wallpaper!
It was crazy to change all my plans almost at the last minute because six weeks is a really small amount of time to do everything… but at the end I completed most of the things I wanted to do and left others for later as I didn’t have any budget left!
Anyway, all I can say is that every morning I wake up surrounded by flowers and it really makes me happy! I don’t regret that obsession at all! It was worth every penny, I love it and it really makes the room.
I didn’t spend a lot on furniture and decorative items because I tried to reuse things I already had and the rest is mostly great vintage finds. And I think you always need a statement piece in a room to make it look special and expensive. My statement piece is this dark floral wallpaper! And I love it!
