Before and After: A Drab, Gray Tel Aviv Apartment Is Now Cheery and Colorful

Size: 85 square meters / 915 square feet
This 85-square-meter, three-bedroom apartment, located in a developing west Tel Aviv neighborhood, used to be a neglected and gray apartment. Our mission was to make it spark using surprising colors, wallpapers, and patterned tiles.
Add to that some great mid-century retro furniture, and tons of vintage finds, and there you have it—an apartment that is all but ordinary. Believing that there’s no such thing as too much, the apartment turned out to be a maximalist gem.
The transformation included opening up the kitchen to the living room. In order to differentiate it from the entire space, the fish-bone wooden flooring was mixed with ornamental tile that climbs on the wall all the way to the kitchen ceiling, adding an edgy style to an otherwise calm, bluish kitchen. Also in the kitchen, attached to a dark blue display cabinet, is a high table with wooden trees as legs. The entrance to the apartment and the entrance to the kitchen are decorated with two symmetrical half arches that were added as a solution to conceal the AC pipes.
