The Belize tourism board is accommodating that seemingly far-fetched wish with the deal of a lifetime—win a free trip for yourself, give a free trip to a colleague. 

The Belize Guilt Trip giveaway exists to celebrate the idea of hard-working people using all their paid time off, which they report 55% of Americans don’t do. The “guilt free” part is not only treating yourself and a guest to a Belize getaway, but granting a well-deserved co-worker (and perhaps your boss) a vacation with a plus one as well. And don’t worry, you don’t have to go at the same time in case you truly want to disconnect from anything work-related.

“With so much to see and do in Belize, there is no time to waste feeling guilty about work,” Karen Bevans, the tourism board’s director of tourism, said in a statement, according to Travel + Leisure. “Too many travelers feel indebted to the colleagues who make their time away from work possible. What better way to enjoy a guilt-free Belizean getaway than to reward those same colleagues with a free trip of their own?”

There aren’t too many details mentioned about what the lucky winners will be doing during their five-day trip, but the application page does mention “caving, snorkeling, beaches, and more,” which already makes us feel more relaxed. 

The application process is fairly simple: just fill out your name, your co-workers name who you’d like to nominate, and why you both deserve a trip to Belize. We Americans are known to work ourselves to the core, so we’re confident that you can come up with a legitimate reason why you deserve this getaway. 

The deadline to enter is February 18, 2020, but don’t procrastinate too long! The sooner you apply, the sooner you can mentally start getting on island time.
