After a few back-to-back years of more neutral-leaning shades, Benjamin Moore is doubling down on bold color in a big way with Raspberry Blush (2008-30), their Color of the Year for 2023. This pinkish red-orange is no shrinking violet; wherever you put this coral hue, Raspberry Blush (2008-30) is going to get noticed for its saturation and intensity.

“People are ready to bring color back into the home, taking a step outside their color comfort zones,” says Andrea Magno, color marketing and development director at Benjamin Moore, in a press release about the announcement. “Raspberry Blush (2008-30) and the Color Trends 2023 palette empower the use of statement colors that deliver delight and personality while transforming rooms for incredible results.”

The rest of the aforementioned Color Trends palette (pictured below) also skews quite colorful and rich, from Wenge (AF-180), a chocolate with black and violet undertones, which I could see living in a more historical home, to North Sea Green (2053-30), a deep, soothing, but modern teal with a little bit of gray in the mix. The latter of those shades seems to be where green hues are headed, away from the earthy sages and ferns that have been trending recently and back to a more aquatic source of inspiration.

You won’t find a white in the mix this year, either; the closest color is New Age (1444), a whisper-soft purple-gray. Even though the palette only includes eight colors, pared down from other years, you can feel a sense of joy and the momentum of maximalism in its design ethos.

In celebration of this year’s COTY announcement, Benjamin Moore enlisted electro-funk duo Chromeo to riff on what this color might look like in song form. You can listen to Chromeo’s song “Raspberry Blush” on Spotify and download other playlists inspired by Benjamin Moore’s 2023 palette there, too.
