In order to determine the best New Year’s Eve destinations, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across based on 29 metrics relating to entertainment and food, safety and accessibility, and costs.
Coming in first place is New York, New York which also ranked No. 1 in the study’s entertainment and food category. The Big Apple’s top placement is unsurprising given how iconic the Time’s Square ball drop has become over the years. As the largest city in the country, it’s no wonder that NYC is also bursting with entertainment options, from Broadway shows to bars and clubbing experiences.
Second place goes to Orlando, Florida. The popular vacation destination is home to iconic theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, which are hosting their own New Year’s Eve fireworks displays, light shows, and more.
Third place goes to Las Vegas, Nevada, a.k.a. Sin City itself. The famous party hotspot is full of events celebrating the countdown to 2023, from the Hard Rock Cafe’s New Year’s Eve party to the Plaza Hotel’s fireworks show.
