A little over a year into the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many people across the country continue to work and learn from home. Dining rooms, closets, guest rooms, and basements have been converted to makeshift offices, classrooms, and Zoom backdrops, resulting in a well-documented surge of DIY projects and Made released a new 2021 WFH trend report to help folks make the best of their office spaces this year.

It’s no secret that colors impact emotions and behavior. With help from Tash Bradley, lead color expert at Lick Home, the experts at Made narrowed in on the best home office paint colors to improve concentration and creativity, emphasizing natural earth tones. “Spending most or all of your time at home might lead to a significant drop of energy and lack of motivation,” Bradley said. “That’s why you need to surround yourself with uplifting energy, and you can easily get that from earthy shades that bring the outside in.”

With that in mind, Made crowned pine green as the best 2021 home office hue for long-term concentration and clarity. The color evokes thriving evergreen trees, according to Made experts, while also remaining elegant and stylish — allowing for a peaceful space without compromising on design.

“Green is one of the most restful colors for your eyes and is known to make you feel optimistic and refreshed, contrasting the strain from screens,” Made’s experts said. “This vibrant deep green brings in the elements of the energetic, thriving greenery from nature while also remaining sophisticated and chic — allowing for a working space you are happy to be in, without compromising on style.”

The experts also recommend blues and neutrals, both of which are also earthy tones that have calming effects on the mind and body. Greys, beiges, and whites are some of the neutrals that help from distractions. Tell us, will you be turning to pine green paint this year?
