I had my own bathroom when I was growing up, so when I first moved into my college dorm, I found the idea of sharing a bathroom with someone else to be daunting, to say the least. Showering with bare feet on a floor other people regularly step on? Not ideal for me.

Although my dorm didn’t use communal bathrooms — instead, I shared a shower with two people inside my suite-style dorm — I quickly realized that having a reliable pair of shower shoes is essential to any form of dorm living. Plus, I like to take a shower at my university’s gym after a good workout, and I definitely need them there 🫠.

I’m now starting my junior year, and after testing various shower shoes throughout my time at school, I’ve recently narrowed down to one pair that checks all my boxes: shevalues Shower Shoes on Amazon. The best part is, they’re $12.98 — aka, super college student budget-friendly!

The first thing that won me over about the shevalues Shower Shoes was the material. They have a lightweight feel despite a thick foam build, which means I find them both comfortable and supportive. I also love the snug yet breathable fit of the shoe. The holes provide great ventilation for my feet in the shower, and my shoes dry so quickly after I get out.

Confession: I am extremely clumsy, especially on the days I wash my hair and have to rinse out my conditioner. Being in a small dorm shower with various products coating the shower floor can be a recipe for disaster if you’re not careful, no matter what shoes you’re wearing. I find these shoes’ non-slip soles to work well for me on wet, slippery surfaces. I also notice that the holes allow water to flow through, which I think is part of what helps me maintain a sturdy grip.

As far as drawbacks go, I’m going to be honest: In my opinion, these shoes are not the most stylish. However, there are plenty of color options (I went with the cute pale pink!), and I think the other benefits definitely outweigh the style.

Consider adding these shoes to your dorm shower caddy this fall!
