Want to vacation like American fashion designer and icon Betsey Johnson? Well now you can — and it looks pretty fabulous. The 74 year-old Johnson is offering fans and vacationers alike the chance to live her whimsical lifestyle at her Mexican villa. Johnson's pad, located in Zihuatanejo, Mexico is now available to rent on Airbnb for $618 per night. It's a pretty reasonable alternative should Gwyneth Paltrow's Mexican villa be out of reach at $8,000 a night.
When you think of Betsey Johnson, best known for her vibrant colors and over-the-top designs, you're more inclined to think New York than Mexico. But clearly it's time to adjust that thinking, as she counts the country's smaller cities as some of her favorite destinations.
BetseyVilla, as her estate is called, is a "boutique vacation experience" for a "weekend of lounging, laughter and love," notes the Airbnb listing. The house was designed by Zihautanejo and Mexico City-based architect Andrés Benítez and reflects a kind of Mexican-Italianate style (the home was designed originally as an Italian villa and renovated three years ago). Besides expansive ocean views, the light-filled home boasts floor to ceiling windows, marble floors, and arched doorways.
Since Johnson is no stranger to designing hotel rooms, it may not come as surprise that she decorated the villa's interior herself. It doesn't skimp on Johnson's signature vibrant, glam aesthetic. Think bold colors (and also pink sombreros), rich woods, some of Johnson's original artwork, as well as numerous portraits of Johnson herself. Included with the villa is also an infinity pool, private beach access, a Jeep Commander, and a house-wide Sonos system.
The home can host up to eight guests so if you're thinking about a last minute summer trip, round up some friends—BetseyVilla awaits.
