Attention, Beyhive: Beyoncé has solidified her Queen B status with actual bees. The “Black is King” creator revealed in a cover interview for the December 2020 issue of British Vogue that she owns two beehives—with actual bees!—at her home. The fitting revelation came after editor-in-chief Edward Enninful inquired about the most surprising thing about herself. “I know it’s random, but I have two beehives,” Beyoncé said. “Real ones.”

She added, “I’ve had them at my house for a while now.” More precisely, she has around 80,000 bees and explained that her family—comprised of husband Jay-Z, daughter Blue Ivy, 8, and twins Rumi and Sir, 3—”make hundreds of jars of honey a year.” She cited the healing properties of honey as the reason behind the beehives. “I started the beehives because my daughters, Blue and Rumi, both have terrible allergies, and honey has countless healing properties.”

The revelation received lots of buzz among the Beyhive on Twitter. “Beyoncé has both a literal and figurative beehive,” one user tweeted. Another added, “The thought of Beyoncé just staying at home and minding her bees makes me scream tbh.” (Same.)

The “Formation” singer also shared how her family celebrates the holidays at home in the interview, offering insights on some Knowles-Carter traditions. “My twins are three and now they are old enough to understand Christmas,” Beyoncé said. “I love Christmas. We decorate cookies and ornaments. We also collect ornaments with everyone’s favorite things. We decorate while jamming to Christmas music.”

In addition to milk and cookies, Queen B added that daughter Blue “always leaves the most beautiful letters” for Santa. “We get up early and open presents and then we have a big lunch with all of our family.” Beyoncé added. “I love the joy and wonderment of children on Christmas. It makes me feel like a kid.”
