I Gave This Wet-Dry Robot Vacuum a Try and I Swear My Floors Have Never Looked Better
No matter how clean I think my apartment is, the floors will always need tidying up. I’m a master at spot-cleaning with my stick vacuum, but when it comes to more thorough cleaning, I can sometimes be lazy. Or just too busy. Everyone in my family got robot vacuums before I did, and I saw the appeal, but it seemed to be out of my budget. A regular vacuum was pricey enough! However, when I got the chance to try out the BISSELL SpinWave Robotic Wet-Dry Vacuum, I couldn’t let it pass me by. It changed how I do my house cleaning for the better!
When I unboxed the BISSELL SpinWave, I was struck by the appearance of the robot vacuum. I don’t usually put too much thought into how robot vacuums look, focusing more on the features, but I had to take a moment to admire the SpinWave. It’s shiny and sleek, and comes with attachments for vacuuming and mopping, respectively. My hard floors were long overdue for a good sweep, so I plugged in the charging dock right away so I could use the SpinWave as soon as possible. The first charge took roughly four hours.
While I waited, I set up the BISSELL Connect app, which would allow me to control my robot vac remotely. What was especially helpful for me was the ability to schedule cleanings since I can be sporadic about vacuuming when left to my own devices. With the app, I could let the vacuum do its thing while I worked or went out for the day. With Christmas around the corner, my apartment has been a little messier than usual from decorating and wrapping gifts. It can be a whirlwind, so before I even realize it, there’s a layer of glitter and scraps of paper finding their way into corners of my dining room I hardly ever think about.
As far as the actual cleaning goes, the SpinWave is extremely thorough. I thought it moved a bit slower than other robotic vacuums I’ve used, but that’s not a strike against it. Because the vacuum took its time, my floors have never looked better! It picked up all the glitter, dust, and other debris that had accumulated, and took a little over an hour and a half to do so. The vacuum works best on hard floors, but it does a good job on low carpet as well. It’s also very quiet, so I can run it in the background and go about my business as usual without worrying about it being a distraction if I need to hop on a call.
On my heavier cleaning days, I like to run the mop function after vacuuming to get my floors totally spotless. The BISSELL SpinWave comes with a water tank, mop pads, and one trial-size bottle of cleaning formula to get started. The dust and water canisters are easy to swap out, and the SpinWave can detect the type of surface it’s on so it doesn’t accidentally venture onto carpet when it’s supposed to be mopping the hard floor. I don’t have pets (yet), but the SpinWave does have a cool feature that allows you to spot clean in case there are any tough messes that require sanitization. While in mop mode, the vacuum will also pick up some small dry debris and trap it in a separate compartment, which is super convenient if you happen to skip vacuuming and go straight into mop mode. The mop pads can be washed in the washing machine with warm water and reused on the next cleaning session.
Though I’m holding on to my stick vacuum, I’ve been able to get rid of my mop, thanks to the BISSELL SpinWave. It’s never been my favorite chore around the house, so being able to take care of it hands-free has been a lifesaver. I’ve gotten so many compliments about my kitchen and dining area since I started using it, there’s no way I can let it go now!
