Patio furniture has come a long way, style-wise. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your terrace with an affordable conversation set or springing for a splurgy outdoor sofa from one of those specialty retailers, you can almost always find something that looks as good as it functions. Even still, it can be difficult to get outdoor furniture that’s truly fashion-forward the way that indoor furniture is.

At least, it was difficult — until now. Recently textile brand and design studio Block Shop unveiled a new outdoor textiles collection in collaboration with Sunbrella, the makers behind the easy-to-clean performance fabric you’ve probably seen on outdoor furniture. The collection features 12 groovy prints that’ll take your chaise lounges and wicker sectional from drab to photo-worthy.

What Is the Block Shop x Sunbrella Collaboration?

The new Sunbrella textile collection is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Hollyhock House in Los Angeles, known for its “California Romanza” or pre-Columbian Mexican architecture. If you look at the landmark, you’ll notice geometric elements that are reflected in the retro-looking textile prints. Some of the fabrics feature floral motifs, while others are designed to mimic the appeal of stained glass.

Many of the textiles have a decidedly Art Deco-inspired appearance; in some instances, this aesthetic is married with ’80s-inspired design elements. In short, the style inspiration behind the collection is a combo of many recognizable trends throughout time. Ultimately, though, the prints are unique and timeless.

Of course, the other standout feature of these textiles is their performance fabrication. Sunbrella fabrics are known for being durable, waterproof, and easy to clean, which makes them the ultimate choice for outdoor furniture upholstery. When you shop the collaboration, you never have to worry about your prized new patterns ever looking damaged or dull after use.

Why You’ll Love the Block Shop x Sunbrella Collaboration

When you entertain outside, your guests will be delighted to see such vibrant prints on the furniture. Almost every motif in the collection comes in a couple of different colorways, which you can purchase by the yard and use to upholster either your entire seating collection or just a couple of pieces. You might even mix and match two or more different textiles for a maximalist look.

I should also mention that the Sunbrella fabrics can be used indoors, too. This is great news for pet owners and parents of young children; you get to have the stylish sofa or armchair of your dreams without worrying about whether it’ll become irreversibly stained.

The textiles sell for $165 per yard, and each order has a 2-yard minimum. A few of the fabrics ship in two to three weeks, while others are in stock now and ready to ship in time for summer. Order your faves while they’re still in stock, and get ready to have an outdoor space that’s just as elegantly curated as your home’s interior.
