When I’m scrolling through real estate listings, it’s always a joy when a home stops me in my tracks. Although I adore all kinds of styles, both architectural and interior, a good dose of bright color always makes me smile. And this two-bedroom co-op, a top-floor unit in Brooklyn’s cozy Boerum Hill, caught my attention for just that reason.

The Details

  • Where: Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
  • Price: $950,000
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathrooms: 1

The kitchen is relatively minimal, featuring butcher block counters (with a handy overhang for bar stool seating) and rows upon rows of floating shelves, making for a clean-lined look. Below the counters, though, cornflower blue cabinetry packs a major punch. The hue shines, thanks to the sunlight pouring through the skylight overhead, and it complements the terracotta-colored floors brilliantly. Just looking at this kitchen makes me want to whip up a bowl of gazpacho and pour a glass of orange wine — it’s so refreshing.

In the living area, a brick wood-burning fireplace grounds the space, which is otherwise very airy, thanks to pale yellow walls, a modern three-place ceiling fan, and another gleaming skylight. Tucked in the corner is one of my favorite features of any home: a built-in banquette. This one is simple and modern — a white bench that lets the tree-filled view of the big corner window speak for itself.

The pink bedroom embraces yet another color, making for a fun and playful sanctuary while pairing beautifully with the warm tones of the hardwood floor. (The built-in air conditioning is a sweet bonus, too.)

The second bedroom, currently in use as an office, opts for golden walls that make the green leaves through the windows pop even more, which is one of my favorite parts of this home — the delightful interior choices enhance the outdoor surroundings even more.
