Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My name is Jaime and my husband’s name is Dave. We have been married for two and a half years and this is our second home together. We first owned a condo in Salem, which we loved, but we needed a bigger space so my mom could move in with us. She has always been a single parent to me and had lived alone long enough, so now she’s with us! We found our home in early fall and fell in love with it! But, it’s a new build and very modern, so I couldn’t wait to get in and put my touch on it! We also live with our pug, Olive, who runs the show of course.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Boho Scandinavian with modern twist!
What is your favorite room and why? The kitchen! I know, basic answer… but I love it! It was pretty customizable when we moved in, and barely had any finishes, so we made it our own right away and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Our home was built on a big hill, so they basically blasted a spot and put our home there. We are working to excavate and change it up a little bit, but if I had to change anything it would be the hill in the backyard and our steep driveway. Which we will change… eventually!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I’d been looking for a rug for under our bed in the master bedroom. I didn’t want to rush it and I had already tried a couple out that didn’t work. I found the PERFECT rug at World Market for 75% off!
Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? I’d like to think Diane Keaton in any Nancy Meyers movie she’s ever been in would be very comfortable. That’s my hope, haha! She’s a huge role model for me, and I just love everything about her style so much.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Take your time. I have a tendency to rush when it comes to getting things done, because I want everyone in the house to be comfortable right away, but it’s not worth it! If I had rushed the rug under the bed I probably would have paid too much and it wouldn’t have been the perfect match.
