The couple fell in love with a three-story building in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, originally built in 1871. Initially, the first floor served as a hardware store, but it was fully renovated in the ’90s (luckily, all of the industrial details remained) and was being used as a mixed-use space and art gallery, the homeowner explains. 

“Coming from a shared brownstone walk-up rental in Cobble Hill, we loved the ground floor space: an open loft with 12-foot ceilings, exposed brick, a glass brick façade, and floor-to-ceiling windows in the back that overlooked bamboo in the private brick patio,” the homeowner says. “It was a home that we could envision growing with us as we thought about our future together.”

Not only is the neighborhood full of amazing restaurants (the couple had their wedding at a Turkish restaurant nearby), but it also has a great music scene. “Our move was initiated by his [her husband’s] need for a larger recording studio space and, fortunately, we had a producer/musician friend who was also eager to be our partner in real estate and split the costs,” she shares. 

The couple has lived in the home for 20 years, and since moving in, there have been many changes. Namely, they have two children now (and two cats!) and converted the home to be functional and comfortable for a family of four. It now has three bedrooms, a gorgeous recording studio, and a serene outdoor space, and it is the perfect place for entertaining family and friends.
