Keely Mann, her husband, and small children moved to Houston from California over a decade ago. After adding two more kids to the mix (for a total of four!), The Manns were in need of a larger home. They settled in The Woodlands, Texas, a large suburb outside of the Houston City Limits, which gets its name from its sprawling forests. Even with the beautiful tree-lined streets and larger homes, many of the builder-grade features the homes come equipped with leave a lot to be desired. But Keely’s keen sense of interior design and creativity mixed with her husband’s ability to do almost any project himself meant that this home was a blank canvas.

Keely has slowly made changes to each room of the house over the past three years (they are currently in the process of remodeling the master bath), tackling one room or feature at a time. With an arsenal of beautiful rugs, chairs, throw pillows, and built-in shelving, Keely is able to mix and match each room to create a personality of its own while still remaining cohesive in style throughout the home. Her smart use of space also helps with what can be viewed as “too much” space in a room that’s common in bigger homes—the flex space in the upstairs game room is an especially nice touch!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic modern farmhouse… is that a thing? If not, can we make it a thing?

Inspiration: Leanne Ford, Amber Interiors, Studio McGee and so many more!

Favorite Element: Plants.

Biggest Challenge: Open living spaces… I’m better with smaller spaces.

What Friends Say: Still waiting on that one!

Proudest DIY: The shiplap built-in my husband built… he brought my vision to life! He’s working on the master bathroom which might beat the wall… we’ll see!

Biggest Indulgence: Rugs. I’m obsessed.

Best Advice: Your home should reflect you…not what everyone else is doing. YOU.
