I Tried the $60 Sheets with More Than 14,000 5-Star Amazon Ratings and They’re Totally Worth the Hype
Throughout the long winter, I’ve become fully invested in making my bedroom as comfortable as possible. Bedroom furniture and decor can get pricey — which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for — but it’s good to balance things out with some more affordable pieces as well. Because of this, I consider it a huge personal victory when I come across high-quality products that fit within my budget.
I stumbled upon California Design Den recently and was taken aback by the fact that everyone seemed to know about this brand — except me, that is. In fact, some of their sheet sets have racked up a massive 50,000 reviews! Of course, I had to try them to see what all the fuss was about, so I picked out their 5-Star Luxury Sateen Sheets for a test run.
My first impression of California Design Den’s sateen sheets was that they looked really sleek, partially due to my selection of their light gray color. They have a slight sheen to them, so even though they were technically gray, they read more as silver to me. Made from 100-percent long-staple cotton, the complete four-piece set comes with two pillowcases, a fitted sheet, and a flat sheet. Though the set is fairly inexpensive, I liked that the sheets didn’t feel cheap. I wasn’t worried that they would fall apart after one wash, since they have a good weight to them without being overly stiff. Additionally, I have a thick, pillowy mattress that can be hard to cover with just any sheet set, so I was thrilled to see that the fitted sheet in this collection had deep enough pockets to fit my bed. Even better, it didn’t come dislodged in the middle of the night when I shifted around to get comfortable. Paired with my olive green bamboo duvet cover, which also happened to have a light shine, my bed appeared to be a luxurious dream.
What caught me by surprise when I actually slept in my new luxe sateen sheets was how smooth and cool they were. I kept kicking my legs underneath them the first few nights because of how easily they moved with me. These are crisp sheets so they rustle a bit, but aren’t unreasonably noisy. They’re delightfully soft, and did I mention smooth? (It’s worth repeating!) I thought the claims that these felt like cozy hotel sheets were all for show, but I was quickly proved wrong. They’re also breathable — so I didn’t overheat — and durable, so no matter how much I tugged on them, they still look good as new. They also come in many colors, so there’s no doubt you’d be able to find a set that matches your bedroom’s aesthetic.
California Design Den actually boasts numerous other fan-favorite sheets in their collection, ranging from super-soft 400 thread count to silky and cooling bamboo. They’re incredibly popular with Amazon shoppers, boasting tens of thousands of reviews and over four stars across the board. California Design Den is such a great find for affordable bedding that feels like a luxury, and I can’t wait to add more from the brand to my bedroom setup!
