Lita Lee claims to be “just a girl who decided to go for it.” And the it she went for was taking a large spec home from a blank slate to a bold, bright home that’s the perfect fit for her family. And in the process, she discovered her passion and talent with interior design, launching Crave Interiors.

She provided a sneak peek of her home in a house call earlier this year, but in this tour she shares even more:

“We moved to Edmonton four years ago. We bought this spec immediately when we saw it! A couple of months before moving we flew here to see if I would like to live in Edmonton. We were driving in a beautiful area right by the river. I saw this perfect house and decided immediately I wanted to make the move.

When our agent walked us to one house we were going to view, that was THE HOUSE I saw several weeks before driving around the city! It was a dream come true! It’s 2,550 square feet of a blank slate because it was a spec! Now we have been adding personality and life to it.”

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic Boho

Inspiration: My husband for being my best friend and handy! My mom growing up was a hippy chic type. She was so creative! My neighbor-slash-newly-adopted-sister-slash-best-friend Jaime for having such a beautiful home and heart. Designers I love: Amber Lewis, Emily Henderson, Justina Blakeney, Katie Hodges, and all the wonderful community on Instagram.

Favorite Element: I love that my home has a clean slate and good foundation. I love surrounding myself with all the objects and collections I have found. The most loved in my home are my furniture pieces I have designed and built with my husband.

Biggest Challenge: Most of the windows in the main space are north facing and get very limited sunlight. This makes it hard to shoot and style photos. As for plants, I have learned which ones like this type of light.

Proudest DIY: My proudest DIY has to be our bunk beds that we built for our boys!

Biggest Indulgence: It has to be my antique Beni Ourain.

Best Advice: I never follow trends. If you like something buy it! Your home should make you feel happy at the end of busy days. If you buy a piece you love, it doesn’t matter because you’re always going to make it work in any space of your home. Trust me—coming from the thrifting queen it doesn’t have to put a dent in your wallet. Some of my most beloved pieces have been handed down or bought at the Sally Ann’s. I just go on a good feeling.
