Candace’s Old World Meets French Deco Apartment
Name: Candace
Location: Los Angeles, CA
My boyfriend, Jason and I live in a 1920’s 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment near Hancock Park in Los Angeles. We love our quiet, family-oriented, tree-lined, charming neighborhood built with so much character. As a full-time interior designer, I am constantly in decorating mode and it was important for me to focus on combining both of our styles, Old World charm mixed with French Art Deco accents.
I incorporated a lot of our vintage, eclectic, flea market found possessions with a few new modern pieces. I love mixing prints and textures. My favorite pieces would have to be my collection of rugs and our distressed leather club chair we found at a vintage shop. It’s the perfect masculine tone and texture that balances out the space.
While our living room is busy with accessories, rich jewel tones and indigos, our bedroom is opposite in which I kept it very light and airy with minimal furniture. It’s very calming especially since we get a nice cross breeze through the windows. We’re essentially proud of putting a lot of thought into what we like and eliminating what we don’t like, together.
