Casey & Savannah’s “Southwestern, Vintage & Glamorous” Nashville Home
Name: Casey & Savannah
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
We are Casey and Savannah, best friends, business partners, roommates and Airbnb hosts. Our home was purchased by Casey’s parents and we rent it from them. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and is 1,963 square feet. It was built in 1945, which made for lots of charm, but also many problems when it was first purchased. What we loved about the space was that we could have a studio for our clothing business, Hey Wanderer, and we could use the upstairs for Airbnb. We are located in East Nashville in Riverside Village which has a coffee shop, pharmacy, a few restaurants, and a pub.
Luckily Casey’s stepdad is a contractor, so the major renovations were done by him and we all got to have our input. The kitchen was where he spent most of his time and had the most problems. One of the walls was completely rotted due to a window air conditioning unit. The previous owners had also walled over a window over the sink!! It was unbelievable and needless to say, we have brought the window back. We were going to originally keep the cabinets but they were a mess. The whole kitchen ended up having to be gutted, but we absolutely love the results.
Savannah’s favorite space in the house is the studio. We love being able to work from home in the space of our dreams. Originally this room was used as bedroom and it was just a huge open room with sliding glass doors that weren’t actually functional. Casey’s stepfather listened to what we wanted/needed in the studio and built us many things to make this space everything Hey Wanderer needed, including double French doors that can be opened on a beautiful day/ let in some amazing light. He also unveiled a beautiful wood wall that was covered in sheet paneling by previous owners- the only good surprise found in the renovations.
Casey’s favorite space is the dining room. There’s a giant picture of Stevie Nicks for heaven’s sake! I love the mixture of the black and white triangles with the palm leaves, and I love the big window and all the plants. We spend a lot of time in the dining room when have friends over. We pile around the table to eat dinner and then we end up staying there playing games.
Overall, our style is a mixture of bohemian, southwestern, vintage, and glamorous. Our upstairs really shows this the most. The common room is southwestern/cabin/cowboy, the bathroom is clean + modern, one bedroom is boho, and the other is palm springs glam. Clearly our style is all over the place. We should’ve probably picked a theme but we like too many different styles.
There are still many quirks that come with any older house. There’s a dip in the ceiling that looks terrifying. Our kitchen has wood floors that were face-nailed by previous owners. These are all things we just try to forget about until we can actually address them.
We could go on and on, but this house is basically our dream house and we are so lucky to have found it!
Thanks, Casey & Savannah !
