This four-bedroom, two-bathroom house with a finished basement and two-car garage on 1.3 acres in New York belongs to Parts and Labor Design co-founder, Andrew Cohen. And it just might be the best mix of modern meet cabin vibes that you’ll ever see.
“A lifelong New Yorker (born in Smithtown), I currently live in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with my wife and kids, and love to escape to our country house in Woodstock, New York for a break from my busy schedule,” writes Andrew. “Inspired by the cultural and artistic history of the town, I have renovated this Catskills home to include details that pay homage to the area’s glory days. My signature modernist style can be seen throughout the house’s interior, with thoughtful integration of old and new details.” The home is also occasionally rentable when they aren’t staying there.
Parts and Labor Design was established in 2009 by co-founders Andrew Cohen and Jeremy Levitt and “uses an innovative approach to push the boundaries of high-end hospitality design, focusing on unique and highly customized interior spaces, furniture and lighting.” One of the things that makes their projects so spectacular is their ability to create spaces that overwhelm with architectural gravitas while also being environments that are cozy, warm, and lovely for humans to be in. And I’m not just going off of photos to write that description; New Orleans (where I, Apartment Therapy’s House Tour Editor lives) boasts some beautiful PLD projects like the Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery and Compere Lapin.
