8 Celebrities Who Absolutely Flourish As Plant Parents

As we wrap up Plant Month here at Apartment Therapy, we can reflect on blossoming moment we planted—from a full FAQ on how to become a plant parent to our themed monogrammed mugs. But we’re not done just yet: it’s time to highlight those already in the spotlight who are flaunting their love for plants to the masses. (Oh hey, Joanna Gaines!)

Being avid Instagram users ourselves, we noticed the celebrities who are showcasing their green thumbs. From TV stars like Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo to well-known designers like Bobby Berk and Justina Blakeney—and of course, the all-encompassing happy soul we know as Oprah—these stars are proving that they’re just like us (a.k.a. obsessed with their plant children)!

This probably doesn’t come as a huge shock, but the Fab Five’s design guru has a love for houseplants. Just look at his many photos highlighting thriving plants in different homes (including his own) and dedicating various #justthetip Tuesdays to help his followers create a green-friendly space . And hey, we see you banana leaf plant!

Oprah is the queen of gardening, among so many things. If you follow her on Instagram, you’ve most likely spotted her holding her massive basket of produce freshly picked from her vegetable paradise. The latest garden update? Oprah sorting her avocados plucked right from the trees (which are surprisingly easy to grow, might we add).

Designer and TV host Genevieve Gorder often features rooms on Instagram that are sprinkled with plants—whether it’s her projects, others’ projects, Pinterest, or in her own home. This polka dot begonia, for example, was “forced” into her abode to welcome spring vibes after being so done with the winter season. Next year, we’re doing the same!

Alongside her hubby and partner-in-renovation Chip, Jo loves to showcase the family’s magical garden. Just take a look at this lush sanctuary where rows and rows of flowers provide a pop of color to the other lush vegetation. Not to mention every holiday—Jo doesn’t miss an opportunity to show that love for gardening runs in the family.

The founder of The Jungalow has quite a jungalow of her own, as you can see inside her plant-filled LA home. Her Instagram accounts feature her colorful spaces with pops of green wherever you turn, and her most recent project that involved overhauling her garage was no exception!

There’s no doubt that Mark Ruffalo has a passion for nature, as you can see from his environmental activism. There’s also no doubt that his green roots have been around for some time, too, as seen in this throwback post welcoming spring this year. Who could resist those thriving hydrangeas?

One large hint at Reese being a huge plant fan: the fact that they make a cameo in almost every shot of her home. Take this shot of Reese casually walking down the steps, for example. (And she knows how to make some great plant puns, too.)

From carrots to blueberries and herbs, it seems like there’s nothing Jennifer Garner doesn’t grow on her family farm (and we’re waiting for our invite to come over for dinner). In one of the actress’s recent posts, she shared the status of her produce after a 20-inch rainstorm, and we got a beautiful glimpse of the property in all its lush green glory.
