Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I live here in my apartment with one roommate. This is a two-bedroom/one-bathroom apartment located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. We chose this place to make a home because I dreamed of living in a brownstone when I moved to New York. This has been the perfect place to hang out with friends and survive a pandemic when there is nowhere to go.

Being a Black woman I wanted to have that translated to my apartment. Most of the art and books within my apartment were either made by Black artists or highlight Black culture and art.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: A Brooklyn Brownstone meets Bougie on a Budget

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room in my apartment is the living room. It’s the center of the house and where all activities go down from game nights, binge-watching TV, and relaxing on a weekend morning. Over the past year, I’ve filled this room with plants to help make the space feel more like home and bring an earthy feel to the city I live in.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? My latest purchase was a vase in the shape of a woman’s body, which is a replica of an Aissa Kermanche. I love having fresh flowers in the house so this was a cute addition to add to my home.

Any advice for creating a home you love? I would say find a place that gives you an open canvas to make your own. I searched so many places when I was looking for a new apartment, and once I saw this place, I knew it was the one. I would suggest making a mood board of interiors you love via Pinterest or Instagram and use that as a guide to purchasing your furniture so you end up with a cohesive space.
