Christine and Will didn’t know where to start when they purchased their Hoboken condo. Their pad boasted a mix of overstuffed bachelor furniture and other mis-matched items. In order to inject a dose of style and create a more grown-up home, they worked with Jessica Davis of Nest Studio (whom you might remember from Jessica & Scott’s East Coast Nest). She brought her signature eclectic style featured in her own home to Christine and Will’s house.

Christine and Will, with the help of Jessica, were able to combine their love of contemporary clean furnishings with a touch of tradition and global flair. Space is at a premium inside their condo so storage was incorporated wherever possible with baskets, a storage banquette in the dining space and two large Ikea armoires in the bedroom that they dressed up with Nest Studio hardware.

“Christine and Will were very easy to work with,” says Jessica. “We started by creating boards on Pinterest that we both pinned to and commented on. Then we honed in on the concepts and I created more concrete image boards with selections. Usually after a couple of iterations we were happy with the concept and had moved on to implementation. The biggest challenge of Christine and Will’s space were the odd windows. The windows in the living room and master have strange soffits and are not symmetrical and made for a challenge with furniture arrangement. In the living room we solved the asymmetry by using a track mounted drape along the full wall. This gives privacy but still allows in light (since they are on the ground floor). In the master we created a feature drapery wall behind the bed so that we could float it partially in front of a large window (there was literally no other place to put it).”

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Comfortable, Colorful, Eclectic, Global

Inspiration: World travels, my love of yoga, our cat.

Favorite Element: I love the mirror in the living room, my husband loves his brown leather chair.

Biggest Challenge: Our master bedroom, everything is off center, but along with our designer Jessica Davis, we managed to create a focal point and balance the room with the sheer drapery behind the bed.

What Friends Say: They love the space – it’s warm, inviting and works well.

Biggest Embarrassment: What it looked like before.

Proudest DIY: Hanging all the artwork.

Biggest Indulgence: Originally we just wanted to do the living/dining area, but once we saw how great that looked (and how bad the rest of the house looked in comparison) We decided to do the balance of the house immediately.

Best Advice: Working with a designer you trust.
