Name: Christine Hamilton
Location: Dallas, Texas

Nearly two years ago our little family moved from a tiny Manhattan apartment to an 1850 square foot 1950s ranch style home in Dallas, Texas. We live in a neighborhood called Lake Highlands and it is filled with lots of young families, which is great for our 3-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.

We renovated the kitchen and living areas a few months after moving in. It was an undertaking, but completely worth it. The kitchen was cramped and outdated, so we tore down some walls and gutted it.

Its open, airy feel makes it the hub of activity and my favorite room in the house. When we moved here, it was a challenge to fill a space that was double the size of our last apartment with our existing furniture.

We have a somewhat modern, clutter-free aesthetic, but we needed some big pieces. I’m proud of the massive dining table that my husband and my dad made and all of our many Craigslist and Facebook garage sale finds.

Thanks, Christine Hamilton!
