Farrow & Ball Is Launching a Collection with Designer Christopher John Rogers
As purveyors of richly pigmented paint and fine wallpaper, British home decor company Farrow & Ball doesn’t take collaborations — or the creation of new colors or patterns — lightly. So their latest partnership with American fashion designer Christopher John Rogers on Carte Blanche, a collection of joyous hues and wallpaper designs, feels both fitting and noteworthy.
“I’m obsessed with Christopher’s use of colour; he treats it so tenderly and the result can be a beautifully tempered explosion or a slick confident splash,” says Charlotte Cosby, creative director for Farrow & Ball, in press materials about the collection. “His lines are impeccable, and you can’t help but be drawn to the exquisite quality of his pieces — a key reason why he felt like such a natural partner for us.”
The collection, which officially launches next week and consists of 12 paint shades and three distinct paper designs, can best be described as a riot of color. Although the assortment is anchored by a few key neutrals, ranging from white and tan to brown and black, you’ll find an assortment of bold blues and jaunty greens as well as a hit of both pink and red in the paint palette. Memories of family and food inspired the collaboration, and that’s reflected in the fun paint shade names — Au Lait, Raw Tomatillo, and Shallot, to name a few. You can feel that warmth and energy in the brand’s installation shots, too, which are pictured throughout here.
The three different wallpaper designs riff on the ebullient patterns Rogers is known for, from a graphic dot repeat to a versatile stripe that can be installed four different ways. There’s also an Anni Albers-inspired plaid in the mix, too. For the ultimate versatility, each of the papers is available in four different colorways that coordinate back to the paint palette.
The collection will officially launch on September 7. Color cards are available for pre-order. The paints can be ordered in all of the brand’s finishes, including their latest, Dead Flat, which is ultra-matte.
