I recently made the switch to an adjustable standing desk in my office, and it has made a world of difference. That said, I soon realized that my regular desk chair just wasn’t going to cut it anymore. With a more active desk I needed a more active seating option — and it turns out that the medical community agrees. Active seating — specifically ergonomic stools — helps to strengthen core and back muscles, while allowing the spine to achieve its natural curve.

Hi everyone! I’m excited to be back in our studio this week for a feature that I’ve been waiting to share for the past few months. When I heard that my friends Bob and Cortney Novogratz would be launching an online boutique on Amazon, I was eager to check it out in person. Their team was kind enough to send over some of the pieces (including a blush sofa that could not match the blush walls of our new studio any more perfectly) and I’m excited to walk you all through it today.

I love to buy and test trashcans. I’ve owned many and tried many others. I am a big fan of the classic, no-tech Rubbermaid cans, but those you have to hide. If you want something more accessible and pretty, you move to a different class. My latest tryout is with simplehuman’s brand new sensor can which as motion AND now — get this — voice control. Move over Alexa!

If you don’t already know that I’ve spent the last year and a half building a house, you should check out my posts that have documented the process since last January 2016. As I approach the finish line (move in some furniture next week), I want to use my Fantastic Find slot to showcase some of the remarkable sources and products that I’ve put into the project.

I know, I know, I just can’t stop talking about ICFF — the truth is, there was just SO much to see at the show and I’m still processing it all. One new booth in particular keeps coming to mind: the Australian home decor brand Les Basic. They launched at ICFF this April and are already making waves in the millennial market. All of their products have a subtle and simple design, and truly embody the attitude “less is more.

If you have taken a look around any of our house tours —regardless of decor personality — you have probably seen an abundance of pendant lamps. With the ability to act as a stand-alone statement piece or a subtle accessory, hanging lamps can be versatile, adaptable, and will always add a touch of class. I first saw Color Cord Company a few years back at ICFF, but this year they are back with so much more.

Summer is in the air and I’m sure many of you have already made your warm weather travel plans — that said, it’s always nice to be able pack up your tent and sleeping bag and get out under the stars for an impromptu weekend or overnight. I found this camp stove from Biolite a while back and I’ve been hanging onto it, waiting for some warm days to come along before I shared it with you. I’m so excited to finally unbox it today.

When I was down in High Point celebrating our curated furniture collaboration with Cloth & Company and Amazon last month, I met a lot of wonderful people at our launch party, some who worked in the furniture industry and some who did not. One acquaintance in the latter category was one of the founders of Vinyl Me, Please, who gave me a first-hand account of his company and its story.

I know I like to feature products or services that can sometimes seem to serve a very niche purpose (measuring pen, anyone?) but today I wanted to do something a little different. Happy May everyone! I thought I’d take this moment to remind you (for your sake and for your mother’s) that Mother’s Day is just around the corner. It will quickly be followed by that deluge of events that all seem to hit us at once this time of year… birthdays, weddings, showers (baby and bridal), graduations, you name it. Luckily back at the NY NOW show in February, I came across the lovely folks behind Inklings Greeting Cards.

Well, Spring has finally sprung (at least for us here in New York City!) and I know everyone — myself included — is starting to get that warm weather travel bug. There’s nothing quite like a backpack when you’re traveling, and while any loyal Apartment Therapy reader knows that we simply LOVE to talk about luggage, there’s a new kid on the block. Today I’m excited to share Bobby, which I first saw at the New York Now show a few months ago.

Having just finished its impressive Kickstarter campaign, this incredible chair is finally available for all of you edgy design lovers out there to purchase. We got to see it in action just last week when the folks over at RockPaperRobot brought a sample to our office. I was SO impressed and have to say that the pictures certainly do not do it justice.

The Spring Equinox is finally upon us, and even if it may not feel that way quite yet, now’s the time to get excited for the prospect of all of those warm weather activities we’ve been missing. Anyone who knows me know that I’m a pretty dedicated biker when it comes to my commute, so when a colleague sent me a link to the Buca Boot, I knew it was something I needed to share with our readers.

I love gadgets, but not usually in the kitchen. Kitchen gadgets are often fads that come and go. Everything I find, however, comes with a good recommendation and this one came from a friend in LA, who emailed me with this crazy happy recommendation: “Maxwell! This thing is so exciting to use and it makes chopping so fun. I use mine almost every day.” Was she being paid to tell me this? Turns out, no — she genuinely loves this thing. So I got one and checked it out.

Well, Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and whether you are coupled up, single, or somewhere in between, it’s always a wonderful reminder to celebrate all the love in your life. We had a blast rounding up our favorite “flower” delivery services for this exact purpose: to show every type of Valentine that you love them! Best of all, these companies deliver year-round and for all occasions — because why should one day have all the fun?!

I was so excited about last week’s Instagram story because I got to feature not just one but FOUR makers whose products really caught my eye.
