This one-bedroom apartment in Denver was just kind of “standard” before Andres Rincon moved in two years ago. As he describes it, there just wasn’t “much life to it.”

That wouldn’t do for Andres, who claims a passion for design and has worked over the past two years to transform this rental unit into a colorful, cozy space that’s a “true reflection” of his personality.

The couch is from Floyd, and Andres says it's a couch you can really sink into. "I knew I wanted a deep couch that I could lounge on no matter what. A home can look good, but what's the point if it also doesn't feel good? Great to lay out on and nap and just the perfect couch all around," he writes. "The chrome/glass side tables are vintage and felt like the perfect piece to add an industrial/bauhaus element that I love," he writes of the side tables he found on Marketplace. "The red gooseneck lamp is one of my first lamps I bought from my best friend and also art/vintage dealer Colin," Andres explains.

To create his dream home, he carefully curated paint colors and furniture picks. “I’ve always leaned more toward mid-century modern, but I’ve taken a unique approach to my home, applying different styles in a tasteful way,” he writes of the space that takes visual ideas from mid-century modern, Bauhaus, and postmodern styles.

Andres loves that so much of his furniture is modular. "It's a dream of mine to treat my home as a playground and have modular furniture that fits my needs," he writes. "Specifically the Montana Panton wire cubes and some vintage Kartell pieces/stools that I have!"

You’ll see plenty of his interests, which include tattoos, alt/punk music, and skateboarding (along with design, of course), on display in the home. He’s done a great job of reflecting in his interests in the unit, “down to the flash tattoo wall by my desk and hidden music references in my home,” he writes.

"Be patient, and the right piece will come to you," Andres advises. "Sometimes you need to live in a space for a little bit to see what's right rather than always trying to find the perfect piece."

His entire space, which he shares with his two dogs, Oso and Benji, is a blueprint for turning a “standard” rental apartment into a modern, personality-packed home.
