“The house has almost all the original elements we love about a ’30s house,” Liza begins. “The old panel doors and ceiling are so charming. At the front of our house you’ll find beautiful stained glass. When the sun comes in, the light of the stained glass is so beautiful. I think that was one of the things we fell in love with.”
The couple shares the home with their 18-year-old daughter, Juul, and on some weekends their 22-year-old son, Stijn. But it’s not just the age of the home that’s unique about the house — it’s what the building started as. It’s a former residential shop premises.
In fact, a part of the house was a shoe shop till 1986! “That part of our house is now a room where I work on creative projects,” Liza writes. “It still looks like a little shop. Our house still has the old window display.”
“Every season I try to make some happy things to display. We get a nice response on the window display and we get complimented about our window display. They tell us they get a big smile while they are walking by.”
