Katy Mae Turner never actually saw this apartment before signing a lease seven months ago. “I was moving from Waco, Texas, to Los Angeles, California, and there was a listing online,” she begins. “I had already started moving when I got the email in Phoenix, Arizona, that I was accepted.”

The lease was signed two days later for this 450-square-foot studio apartment in Los Angeles, California, which Katy pays $1450 a month for. “It easily could’ve been a disaster, but thankfully it all worked out!”

Calling this her first “big girl apartment,” Katy says that she really wanted to “create a home for myself. “I try to make my space feel warm through the colors I choose. Warm colors like pink, orange, yellow, and cream, natural wood tones or warm lighting. The brick does a lot of that work for me in this space, which I really appreciate.”

“Even simple things like a can opener or coffee table bring charm and character into your space,” she continues. “In such a small space, I put a lot of thought into the things I bring into my home to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.”
