Name: Danielle Rowe, Patrick Flannery and son Pete.
Location: Berkeley
, California
Size: 1,380 square feet
Years lived in: 2.5 years; Rented

The home that Danielle and Pete share with their son hits all of the right notes: it is modern but maintains a sense of warmth, lived in but not messy, collected but not cluttered.

Danielle owns the event design company Brown Paper Designs and her aesthetic shines through the decor, which at the same time reflects the life of the family that lives here. The greatest balance of all is creating a space that nurtures as it inspires, leaving room to grow and evolve without sacrificing personality.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic, simple, thoughtful.

Inspiration: Traveling, CA flea’s and my friends. They have excellent style.

Favorite Element: The open living to dining room.

Biggest Challenge: The house itself is very loud.

What Friends Say: Wow- you have a lot a baby toys.

Biggest Embarrassment: Hmm. Probably that it’s usually a mess. and the garden- I had high hopes to make that garden amazing and these days I just don’t have the time…

Proudest DIY: Honestly- I don’t really DIY— we painted the baby’s room. Let’s just say that is the last time we try and paint ourselves.

Biggest Indulgence: Probably the Mies Van Der Rohe cantilever chairs. I bought them and couldn’t really afford them at the time. But they were such a steal from a little furniture/junk shop on Sunset in Silverlake.

Best Advice: Your home is your haven, if you have a calm home, it impacts your entire state of mind.

Dream Sources: My friend Amanda Teal Design. It’s my dream to buy a house and collaborate with her. She is such a talent.
