Brooke fell in love with travel after a summer spent driving around the U.S. She loved being able to visit new places and appreciated the minimalist lifestyle that came with being on the road. Her husband, Sam, was deployed at the time, and they talked all the time about traveling together once he finally came back home.

When she came across this 1997 Jayco Eagle camper for sale, she knew it was meant to be. She went all in, purchasing the camper with the last of her savings, and Brooke and Sam renovated the camper together after his return.

Painting the walls and ceilings white brightened the otherwise dark interior, and they also removed and replaced the dated cabinet doors. They installed cheery, warm laminate flooring and added a touch of color by painting the lower cabinets.

Brooke credits Sam (and YouTube!) with helping her tackle anything they came across in the renovation process—like removing a sofa they both hated to make way for a bright and airy seating area.

Hard as it was to say goodbye to all that glorious ’90s upholstery, Brooke now has a gorgeous new space to work from. At night, the pair have a place to sit down and dine in style.

Next up was the bedroom. It wasn’t hideous, but definitely needed a style update.

They added neutral linens and plants, and even found a place for Sam to hang his hats. The headboard covers the window and is backed with Reflectix, which insulates the tiny room. It also protects the window when the pair lean up against it while watching their fave shows on the TV hanging on the opposite wall.

Lots of comfy bedding in a small room makes for maximum coziness, Brooke says. Not convinced? Just ask their sweet pup, Lando!
