John Edelman, who recently stepped down from his role as CEO of Design Within Reach, is also stepping away from his longtime home. Edelman’s luxurious home in the Connecticut suburb of Ridgefield just hit the market for the first time ever, but it’s not the price tag of your usual starter home. This modern beauty will cost you a whopping $3.395 million

Located up a long, quiet road, the six-bed, seven-bath home, which was built in 2005, sits on a sprawling 14-acre lot that highlights its bucolic New England setting. The estate was fully designed by Edelman himself and his artist wife, Bonnie, providing the perfect private oasis that fuses their two styles.

The dine-in kitchen features top-of-the-line, stainless steel appliances and a large center island with drawers and wine storage. A triple skylight towers overhead, and the wrap around counters includes a three-seat bar area, as well as a built-in work area. A more formal dining area off the kitchen is ideal for dinner parties.

That continues into the living room, a light-filled gathering area with French doors that opens out to the large back deck. The oversized master suite features a crackling fireplace and oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a luxurious master bath with a deep soaking tub, marble walls, spacious shower, and his/hers sinks. Additional features include a private gym, basketball court off the three-car garage, large office, and downstairs game room.

Outside the main house is a spacious pool house and pool area, ideal for entertaining thanks to a spacious, sun-drenched patio, fire pit area, and beautiful natural pond. The roomy deck is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee, while the covered pavilion outdoor bar and dining area are ideal for enjoying summer barbecues with friends and family. It’s complemented by the lush, rolling laws and backdrop of tall, mature trees, a perfect slice of New England’s rural beauty. A stunning sunset view over the water is the crown jewel of this exquisite property.

According to Edelman, the property is part of a larger plot that his parents, the owners of Edelman Leather, purchased in 1969, House Beautiful reports. And despite his role with Design Within Reach, Edelman told HB that the majority of the furnishings inside the home didn’t come from his own store. Instead, they’re from flea markets, where the furniture tycoon first developed his love of modern design.
