Diptyque candles might be my favorite little luxury. I like giving them as housewarming gifts, since they’re definitely a splurge and almost feel too indulgent to light. But they’re worth it when you can spring for them.

The brand has amazing scents, and the candles burn really evenly. And there’s just something so chic about the packaging, which believe it or not, has been the same since 1963, two years after the company first formed and began making candles. That is, until today.

What’s New About the Design of Diptyque Candles

Some big news for my fellow Diptyque lovers: The classic candles, arguably Diptyque’s most popular size, are getting an update. The glass vessel will now feature a refined oval-shaped ridge marking the perimeter of the label, echoing its same curved shape.

This tiny tweak makes the interplay of the glass, the flame, and dancing letters on the label look even more elegant whether lit or unlit. The design was done in collaboration with Julie Richoz, a Franco-Swiss designer known for her command of materiality.  It’s a subtle change, but the brand just felt ready for a little refresh.

Diptyque Also Has New Scents Now and a New Format Coming Soon

That’s not all the Diptyque news, either. Five new scents will be available for purchase, and they run the gamut from sweet to woodsy. Among them: Café, a coffee bean scent; Ortie, a herbaceous nettle fragrance; Sésame Noir, an earthy black sesame smell; Rhubarbe, a summery rhubarb fragrance; and Shiso, an aromatic leafy scent.

Even better? Come fall, Diptyque’s top 10 fragrances, including Roses, will be available in a new refillable form. This will make the brand more eco-friendly than ever before. It took the brand over three years to get this vessel launch right, and the refillability hinges on the way the candle burns. It’s also 10% lighter than the glass designs.

The redesigned classic candles are available for purchase today. You’ll have to wait until September for the refills, and all of the new scents are stocked now, too.
