If you simply can’t resist snagging a refillable popcorn bucket and munching on popcorn throughout your visit to the Disney parks, you’re well aware that these adorable themed buckets have quite the fan following, with Disney lovers around the world picking up each new limited-edition offering once they hit the parks.

But the bucket itself is hardly a practical souvenir, because you can’t really do much with it once you’re home — unless you plan to display it on a shelf or carry around your own snacks in the real world in a popcorn bucket shaped like Cinderella’s carriage — in which case, do you. However, one Disney fan got crafty and made use of her family’s prized souvenir, creating a DIY lamp out of the iconic Mickey balloon-themed popcorn bucket and some other lamp accessories.

California resident Brittney Neal Soberanis recently shared a shot of the impressive and adorable lamp she created for her daughter’s room on Instagram. In her caption, she wrote, “I couldn’t find a lamp I liked for Lily’s room so I made this one from a Disneyland popcorn bucket and I’m in love.”

After receiving tons of interest from fellow Disney fans, she created an Instagram video to explain how she made the lamp using the bucket (which can be found at locations throughout the Florida and California parks) and a lampshade she’d had on hand. She purchased a lamp kit similar to the Portfolio Gold Lamp Socket ($14.98) at Lowe’s with parts to create a custom light, including a cord, socket, hardware, and bottle adapters.

She explained that it “sounds scary” to put together but “wasn’t hard at all,” using the included installation hardware to attach the parts to the popcorn bucket and the lampshade, adding an additional washer for extra stability. She connected it all to a gold threaded extension rod, inserting it into the center of the popcorn bucket, adding a rubber stopper to the bottom for added stability. She filled the bucket with clear beads for extra weight and support, showing off her creation, which she insists wasn’t challenging, just a bit time-consuming to put together by hand. The end result: a truly unique, one-of-a-kind lamp that adds the perfect amount of Disney magic to any room in your home.
