DIY Stock Tank Pools Are the Instagram Trend of the Summer
It’s apparently a Stock Tank Pool summer. All over Instagram, people have been posting about the DIY pools that are keeping them cool—and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. Not only is this the best time to have a pool since many of us are staying at home this summer, but they’re also very well-decorated and give off a vacation vibe without going anywhere.
In order to show you what I mean (and, quite frankly, to give myself a fix), here’s a roundup of some the most stylish stock tank pools that people are decking their outdoor spaces with. And hopefully, it’ll inspire you to get creative in your own backyard.
Poolside Jungle
Keeping the surrounding leafy environment in mind, this stock tank blends in with bamboo fencing that hides its plastic exterior. And the wooden clothing rack and bench that @casaenlajungla added are nice additional rustic touches, too.
Built-In Getaway
This looks like the perfect spot to hunker down for the summer months ahead: cushioned sun chairs for lounging, an umbrella for shade, and a built-in stock tank pool for dipping. @ashlinixon, when can I come over?
Rainbow Paradise
Love color? Love pools? Meet your soulmate. @our_atx_adventures didn’t just buy a stock tank pool, they created a rainbow-themed destination—from the pool balls to the rainbow floatie and the painted backdrop.
Flamingo Lovin’
Not only does @farmgirlish‘s flamingos cheer them up, but also anyone who sees this pink-framed oasis. Pink on pink on pink is the name of this game, creating a vibrant space to unwind—and I think Duke agrees.
Stairway to Happiness
This connecting staircase leading up to @keligchevalier‘s stock tank pool is just as crafty as it is functional. The surrounding decor—from the striped hammock to the large wooden candleholders—makes the space even more intentional. And what pool setup would be complete without a few floaties thrown in?
Actual Desert Oasis
From the looks of it, this sunny pool is literally an oasis for its owner @victoriabonvicini. Located in Twentynine Palms, California, the white-painted stock tank pool is partially bordered by a wooden bench for toe-dipping, surrounded by planks to comfortably walk around.
Farmhouse Swimming Hole
Wooden furniture, plaid pillows, metal lanterns—all that’s missing is Chip & Jo. This poolside area on @littlesuburbanfarmhouse’s property is tied together through similar textures, colors, and patterns, with a sense of privacy thanks to the walls around the stock tank pool.
Minimalist Hangout
Known for his many DIYs, designer @erictrine created this minimalist environment. The stock tank pool is placed on top of pebbles, surrounded by leafy plants, and has a brick backdrop with a vibrant wall planter.
Tiki Time
@theunpluggedfamily‘s pool shell fits nicely inside its half-circular wooden casing, leading to the deck area where lounge furniture awaits. The tiki umbrella and the circular woven light installations add a vacation-like vibe to the environment.
Bold Cabana Vibes
@sunwoven’s photo collage shows that designing the perfect pool environment is a work in progress—and three years later, the results are coming through strong. This stock tank pool is painted a bold orange, which contrasts nicely with the neutral color palette of white, black, and beige.
