Lakeland, Florida USA - 01 05 26: Dollar tree retail store and people clear blue sky

Since moving to a new apartment a few months ago, I’ve been on the lookout for budget-friendly home decor. While I don’t mind splurging on a few key furniture pieces, when it comes to decorative accents, I tend to look for items that don’t break the bank. Designers tend to call this “the high/low method.”

My friend, Libby Fehsenfeld, home staging consultant at Tralala Interiors, swears by it. “You can design a cozy and welcoming space that is budget-friendly if you are thoughtful in your approach,” she says.

To put this method into practice, I decided to take a look at the home decor section at Dollar Tree. And to help me narrow down their wide selection of products, I turned once again to Libby for her expert advice; I asked her to browse the site with a budget of just $25. Although the budget retailer might not be top of mind when you think about home decor, you’ll be surprised by some of Libby’s finds. Check out her picks below!

Glass Trinket Box
$5

“This sweet little glass trinket box has many possibilities! I’d buy two and use them to showcase my favorite mementos like concert tickets, corral cotton swabs on a bathroom counter, or display special jewelry pieces.”

Scalloped Rush Basket
$5

“Having decor pieces that help control clutter is key to any well-designed space. These whimsical scalloped baskets would be perfect in a kid’s room or nursery to store toys, stuffies, or linens.”

Metal Lantern Decor
$3

“These metal lanterns would add a warm glow to an outdoor patio area or tablescape. Pair with a flameless flickering candle for easy ambience!”
