With two toddlers and a dog at home, the surfaces in my space take a swift beating between cleans. As a result, even weekly cleans aren’t sufficient. If I want my home to look clean (and I really do), I need to devote ample time to deep clean sessions.

The problem: Addressing the demands of a full-time job in between tending to two toddlers doesn’t exactly lend itself to a lot of free time. And I certainly don’t want to spend what little free time I do have neck deep in cleaning tasks.

But once you add a global pandemic that had my family of five homebound for weeks on end to the mix… well, let’s just say my house had really never looked worse. I had no choice but to pull out the big guns, and finally pulled the trigger on a cleaning tool I’d had my eye on for weeks, if not months: The Dupray Neat Steam Cleaner.

I’m not one to splurge on anything, let alone a very expensive cleaning product (seriously, I lament over every single purchase I make, including necessities like groceries), but I was sick of looking at cushions stained with spit up, shower doors littered with hard water marks, and hardwood floors caked with tomato sauce.

While I certainly could have buckled down and used every ounce of elbow grease in my body to rid my house of these blemishes, convenience won out—into my cart the steam cleaner went. This was a matter of sanity.

I further justified the purchase by the breadth of cleaning tasks this tool can do. The compact cube has a large-capacity 54-ounce tank that heats up to 275 degrees in just seven minutes to easily remove dirt, grease, and stains. It can tackle everything I need it to: hardwood floors, furniture, upholstery, windows, and glass doors—plus some other areas of importance, including grout, kitchen appliances, car interiors, and tiled floors. Basically, if there’s a dirty job to be done, this gadget has it covered—and in record time.

Despite its power, it’s not even close to bulky. The entire thing is less than 11 inches around, weighs just nine pounds, and scoots around on a smooth set of wheels. There’s also an integrated cord wrap on the base, plus a convenient carry case for all of the included attachments, so there’s no fuss when it comes to storage, either.

For the first time, I’m actually finding myself looking for cleaning tasks during the kids naps. It’s just so satisfying to watch the steam at work—much like those viral power washing videos, you just can’t help but watch in awe.
