7 Maximalist DIYs You Can Do with Minimum Effort

A good DIY should be fun to actually do—after all, why go through the process of creating something yourself if it’s just going to be stressful or yawn-inducing? But most of us can’t complete time-intensive projects on a regular basis. With that in mind, we pulled together these seven maximalist DIYs that will add tons of style impact without consuming an entire afternoon. Bring on the glitter and confetti.

In need of a wall clock for your space? Throw it back to the pre-iPhone era and hang one of these guys in your cube or home office. It’ll brighten up your day, even when you look at it and realize that it’s still, in fact, not even 2 pm. Blogger Kara Whitten created this sparkling masterpiece using metallic circle confetti, gloss glaze, and some paint.

Jazz up this fun, functional piece by adding a touch of ombre. Blogger Holly Wade made hers in under an hour, using pieces of felt to create the ombre look. She even includes a step-by-step checklist and video on her site.

Odds are, you reach for a mug at least once a day, so why not make the experience extra glam? Blogger Rachel Faucett created glitter speckled mugs using special paint and pieces from the dollar store to assemble low-cost, on-trend drinkware that you’ll want to keep at the front of your cabinet. These would make great gifts, too!

This confetti DIY takes just 10 minutes to complete, if you can believe it. Blogger Maghon Taylor transformed her already stylish ghost chair into a dazzling beauty with confetti and Mod Podge. We love how she was able to DIY her own version of a $400 piece that she spotted and save major dough in the process.

Ok, you probably haven’t put much thought into your tissue box storage before—but after seeing this adorable rhinestone cover you just might. Blogger Rachel Smith writes that this project “could not be any easier,” which is right up our alley. The tissue box cover is available via Amazon Prime, making this an easy last minute DIY.

If you love a good tassel or two (or 11), this project is calling your name. Blogger Laura Radniecki demonstrates how to assemble a festive rainbow tassel garland that would look right at home in a playroom, nursery, or even an adult apartment or cubicle. The tassels are made from embroidery floss, which is sold at craft stores and available in nearly any color imaginable.
